Love for All That is Art
At Transcendence Art Exchange, we believe that art is a form of creative expression that has the power to evoke deep emotions and inspire us to see the world in new ways. We are passionate about showcasing unique artwork and fostering a community of art enthusiasts who share our love and appreciation for all that is art. Not only do we showcase unique artwork, but we also support important causes, such as dementia awareness. By offering a collection of artwork that raises awareness and funds for organizations that combat this terrible disease, we hope to inspire and make a positive impact.
Personal Connection
We have a profound personal connection to dementia awareness. Our Member Derrick Flores, whom has recently taken a hiatus from the Auto Industry to address the administrative duties of his Mother's Trust and provide support as she battles Vascular dementia. She was a very talented Oils Artist and can no longer paint. In an effort to navigate this challenging task and cope with the overwhelming sense of loss and pain Derrick began to create his own Artwork.
His Father’s side of the Family has endured great loss to Huntington's Disease or HD which is also one of the many forms of Dementia. He was one of the informal caregivers to his Grandmother Beatriz, who’s passing he still mourns to this day some 23 years later. The passion that drives his creativity pales in comparison to his compassion for the families that endure the ravages of Dementia.
After careful consideration Derrick decided to under go genetic testing for Huntington's Disease. He tested negative for Huntington's Disease, which came as a great relief! The fact is Huntington’s Disease one of many diseases that are considered dementia. Diseases that fall in the spectrum of dementia include Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Lewy body, Vascular, Frontotemporal and HD.
The numbers are staggering! The world Health organization estimates that the number of individuals with dementia worldwide is approximately 55 million, with this number expected to reach 78 million by 2030 and 139 million by 2050. The global financial burden of dementia is estimated to reach 2.8 trillion US$ by 2030.
Our world has a plethora of issues that are demanding of our attention and in doing so many of us need an outlet to maintain our mental and overall health. For many of us, Art and the creation of Art provides a shelter from the issues beyond our control.
Our Commitment
Transcendence Art Exchange presents a unique selection of Artwork showcasing the beauty and diversity of the Art world. We are dedicated to raising awareness for those families who have had or are currently dealing with dementia. We offer a collection of unique and familiar pieces. Many of our presentations have been created by Derrick Flores, prints of his mother's work will be available. In addition, we present artwork from other notable Artists in an effort to offer something for everyone. A percentage of each Sale will be donated to the Dementia Society of America
